“Werk” is German for a product of creative work: a result that has been created through intellectual or artistic activity. Klotzwerk was created by Marie-Luise Klotz Tumolo who felt there was a creative gap that needed to be filled for nonprofit organizations, small businesses, and the arts community.
Klotzwerk strives to help clients with individualized creative projects to communicate their impact effectively and creatively. After 10+ years working in small businesses, nonprofit development, and with individual artists, Klotzwerk is here to support you on your communications journey, and using creativity for good.
Marie-Luise Klotz Tumolo

Marie-Luise Klotz Tumolo is a German photo and communications designer and visual artist. She grew up in Germany and the United States and has been hopping across the Atlantic between her two homes for as long as she can remember. She has lived in her charming Bavarian hometown Würzburg, the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area, and in Germany’s capital Berlin, but she feels most at home in the mountains of Montana where she lived as a child.
She received her Master of Fine Arts in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute, and her diploma in Photo and Communication Design from the Lazi Akademie Esslingen, Academy for Visual Communication, in Germany. Over the years she has worked for small businesses, photographers, galleries, and nonprofit organizations, and has 6+ years in nonprofit communications and fundraising experience.
In her work as a photographer and visual artist she specializes in combining fine art and environmental photography. Her work is rooted in deep care and fascination for the natural world.
Her goal in her professional work is to use her creativity for the greater good: creative work for nonprofits and organizations with meaningful missions and values. This drive to use her passion to work towards good is why Marie-Luise created Klotzwerk.
When she is not working on Klotzwerk or her art, you can find Marie-Luise practicing Yoga and enjoying the outdoors on foot or on skis with her husband and young son.
Marie-Luise currently lives and works in Marquette, Michigan.
